North West Roadtrip!

Earlier this week Hannah and Sarah beat their one-day venue visiting record by viewing 7 venues in the North West! Continue reading to hear their reviews on each property….

The first two stops were Didsbury House Hotel and Eleven Didsbury Park who are both under the Eclectic hotel umbrella. Both venues are luxury Victorian town houses, which translates throughout both hotels with their décor. Didsbury House Hotel has two main meeting rooms - the Den and the Boardroom which can both seat 10, the Boardroom also connects to the Blue Lounge and can be opened up for larger meetings for up to 20 delegates. Although Eleven Didsbury Park has less meeting space it definitely makes up for it in other areas. It has a particularly impressive outdoor area called the Walled Victorian Garden, which has a wooden patio area, which is perfect for summer parties and BBQ’s for up to 100 guests.

After leaving the beautiful Victorian town houses Hannah and Sarah headed even further back in time to a gorgeous Georgian venue named Etrop Grange. Although it is located right next to the airport it has kept it’s charm. Throughout the venue there are classic Georgian features, such as the tranquil Courtyard and the Library, which would be perfect for a senior meeting up to 12 in a boardroom layout. There are also modern features throughout which keep it up to date and refreshed – we especially liked the newly refurbished bar area!

Following on from a morning of historical buildings the girls headed somewhere more modern - the Radisson Blu at Manchester Airport. When you walk into this venue you can tell why it is the flagship – it’s modern and sophisticated! The Manchester Suite is the largest meeting space at the Radisson, which has a max capacity of 360 in theatre, so is perfect for any occasion. We were impressed with so many areas of the hotel, in particular the Business Class Lounge which offers the panoramic views of the runway with floor to ceiling windows, you can see the planes but you can’t hear a thing as all the windows are triple glazed! We also loved the Bar, which has the best of Manchester’s music memorabilia all over the walls!

Crowne Plaza Manchester Airport was next on the site visit expedition. Our favourite area here has to be the Irish pub, named Callaghan’s! It’s such a unique space, which can be used for themed Christmas parties and drinks receptions. The Crowne Plaza has ample meeting space for smaller events - there are 8 meeting rooms in total that have a max capacity of 70 in theatre in their largest space.

Keeping with the airport theme, next on Hannah and Sarah’s list was the Marriott Manchester Airport. They had a chance to see the newly refurbished bedrooms and were updated on how the rest of the venue is soon to follow. They are very much looking forward to visiting the venue next year when the refurb is finished!

The final venue of the day was the newly opened Oddfellows on the Park! Once a building fallen into derelict, now a beautifully renovated Victorian mansion. Oddfellows meeting space is full of character, there are two main meeting rooms however other areas such as the terrace and restaurant can also be used for private events and receptions. There are 22 bedrooms in total that are all individually decorated. The bedrooms named the ‘Playground Suites’ have a four-poster bed as its centrepiece. Whereas the ‘Park Rooms’ have the best view of the surrounding greenery and of course you cannot forget about the elegant ‘Bridle Suite’ which is fit for a queen as well as brides.
