A night at The Stock Exchange, Manchester

A very belated Happy New Year from all at Bell Events. After another successful year the Bell Events the team headed to Manchester on Friday 24th January to showcase the newly refurbished Stock Exchange Hotel, located in the heart of the city to five of our lovely clients and their guests.

Situated on Norfolk Street, only a few streets back from the hustle and bustle of Market Street, the Grade II listed build aims to impress from the moment you enter the hotel. The friendly concierge team were waiting to welcome everyone with drinks on arrival in the Traders lounge. Once guests were checked in they were escorted up to one of the newly refurbished luxury rooms which didn’t disappoint!

After a quick freshen up everyone made their way downstairs and back into the Traders Lounge were everyone was welcomed by the hotel’s Sales Manager, Kirsty Walton who has been a part of the refurbishment from the beginning. Kirsty explained that throughout the refurbishment every single detail had been meticulously considered to create the luxury, boutique, 40 room hotel with the aim of capture the spirit and heritage of the 1906 building.

The Traders lounge is the perfect place for any clients to relax and unwind after a long day in the office. With the tall ceiling, ambient lighting and attention to detail being second to none, the Traders Lounge is just the perfect place to take five minutes with either a coffee, glass of fizz or homemade cake. Nothing was ever too much to ask the Stock Exchange team who were always on hand to ensure that no one wanted for anything from the get-go!

We then made our way through the reception area which enabled us to see first-hand the stunning Edwardian Baroque architecture with all the original marble, brass and woodwork which has carefully been restored to its former glory before arriving in the first of the two events spaces, The Vault. With the capacity to hold comfortably 120 in reception the space is perfect for a product launch or drinks reception and is completely private from the rest of the hotel. Alternatively, due to the excellent location and ease of access the hotel is perfect for conferences accommodating up to 50 cabaret, 80 theatre or 80 for a sit down dinner - the options are endless.

One of the hidden gems of the hotel is the private wine cellar located to the side of the Vault. This is a perfect space for those small round table event of 6 to 10 guest with your own sommelier on hand to talk your through the lavish wine collection. An additional bonus to both the Vault and the private wine cellar is that there is a private entrance just of Norfolk street, perfect for any high-profile client.

We then headed up the impressive spiral staircase to take a look at one of the luxury bedrooms. All the rooms have a soft-glow colour scheme throughout and include either a leather chaises lounges or Autoban’s distinctive nest lounge chair - perfect for reading. Even the metal room numbers are inspired by the by the door pegs used by the brokers back when the building used to be a bank. Not to mention that all rooms features a king-size bed, a walk-in shower, as well as a range of luxury amenities for guests to enjoy throughout their stay.

Our final stop on the tour of the hotel was the stunning penthouse suite which encompasses three designer en-suite bedrooms, a fully fitted kitchen with breakfast bar, two lounge areas, a drinks bar, stylish dining area, and a spacious private roof terrace, which offers views across the Manchester skyline. It really is the perfect location for any luxury drinks party or even a private dinner party catered for by Michelin Star chef Tom Kerridge and his team at the hotel.

We were fortunate to experience everything the penthouse suite had to offer with a delicious five course meal prepared by Tom Kerridge himself and his team. The service throughout the meal was 5* with exceptional attention to detail and very friendly & professional hostesses! The food was absolutely delicious – in particular the ‘Crown Prince Pumpkin Soup’ – we can’t quite describe how amazingly tasty this was – we all wanted the recipe!!

After the exquisite dinner, we retired back to the Bar area of the Bull and Bear, the restaurant on the ground floor of the hotel. The restaurant certainly has the wow factor with original marble columns and brasswork, buffed chessboard tiled floor and a magnificent domed ceiling of which for decades was the trading floor of the Stock Exchange. The space definitely captures that relaxed, social atmosphere with that added touch of luxury. Whilst enjoying cocktails at the bar we were lucky enough to meet Tom Kerridge himself which was not only a real treat for our clients but also all the Bell Events team too.

After a few more cocktails and many more laughs everyone gradually said the goodbyes and goodnights as they retired to their luxury bedrooms.
